The Singapore Botanic Gardens is managed by the National Parks Board and dedicated to research, education and conservation in the areas of botany and horticulture, particularly tropical botany and orchid breeding and hybridisation. The expansive Gardens is divided into three 'cores' - the Tanglin Core, the Central Core (shown in this map) and the Bukit Timah Core. Roads seen here within the Botanic Gardens are Palm Valley Road, Maranta Avenue, Liane Road and Dalvey Gate Road.
The Botanic Gardens is open from 5am to 12 midnight daily and admission is free. Some specialised gardens (like the National Orchid Garden) and facilities within the Gardens may have shorter operating hours and require entrance fees.
