This map shows a mainly residential suburban area in the northeastern part of Singapore, near the cross-junction of the major trunk roads, Upper Serangoon Road, Boundary Road and Upper Paya Lebar Road.
In the upper-left quadrant are Recreation Road and Joon Hiang Road - a small estate of private landed houses. Further to the left(west), is a small cluster of HDB flats, a precinct of the Serangoon Central estate. The Paya Lebar Methodist Church is located at the junction of Boundary Road and Upper Serangoon Road, next to Joon Hiang Road and facing the Upper Serangoon Road flyover/highway.
Across Boundary Road, opposite the church, is another cluster of low-rise private residential housing and commercial shop space found along Lim Tua Tow Road. Teck Chye Terrace, a small side road near here is populated with restaurants and eateries with a reputation as a food haunt in this area.
The upper-right quadrant shows the mixed HDB/private residential area of Lorong Ah Soo (HDB blocks officially addressed as Hougang Street 11), Minton Rise Condominium (formerly an HUDC estate) and Surin/Charlton Park private estate (mainly terrace houses and walk-up apartments). The Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre (USSC) is situated near Kampong Sireh road along Upper Serangoon Road and facing the start of Yio Chu Kang Road.
The central and lower-left quadrant of the map are the HDB precincts of Lorong Lew Lian and parts of Serangoon Central estate. Other parts (Lew Lian Vale, Lorong Ong Lye) of this area are populated with mainly private landed housing and low-rise/walk-up apartments.
The lower-right quadrant shows the private residential estate (landed and low-rise) of Paya Lebar Crescent, Paya Lebar Walk and Paya Lebar Place, all accessed via the main trunk Upper Paya Lebar Road.
